El Bigotes Restaurante Ibiza

The setting is stunning, set in a typical tranquil Ibiza cove, small sandy Cala Mastella beach, pine trees growing up on the hillsides with views out over the sea.

Climb around the cliff (not too difficult for the reasonably active) from the sandy beach and there it is

Restaurante El Bigotes.

It’s commonly known that the success of any restaurant depends on its location. Well, you will not be disappointed here.

The restaurant is small and simple and you are seated next to the sea on a decking base.

Even before you are served the first dish, you know this is going to be a special moment.

The fish stew is prepared over an open fire and well looked after and guarded by a member of the family who has run this unique fish place for well over 40 years.

El Bigotes Set Menu

The traditional olives, bread and aioli (garlic mayonnaise) and local vinos (other beverages available).

A large plate which contains fish and potatoes cooked in saffron and fresh country spices.

Delicious flavour, plenty of it and not too many fish bones.

The whole fish goes into the stew, head, eyeballs, nothing to waste here.

The 2nd dish is the rice dish, cooked in the remaining saffron fish stew pot.

The flavour is as delicious as the first fish dish.

We also managed to try a few local desserts, shared between us – very nice indeed.

The traditional Ibiza Hierbas liquor finalized our El Bigotes experience.

The food, the setting, and the company, friendly staff all combine to make this a lunch to remember for a long, long time.
