Crete Island
The fifth largest Mediterranean island and once the centre of the Minoan civilization 2700-1420 BC. It is regarded as one of the earliest civilization in Europe.
Geographically Crete is defined by a high mountain range from east to west with some high peaks over 2,450 meters and diverse scenery to green and fertile valleys and plateaus. Famous and adventurous gorges like Samaria Gorge and not at least a long coastline, with sandy beaches, cliffs and mountains down to the sea.
There are four main administrative regional areas; Chania, Rethymno, Heraklion and Lasithi.
Heraklion is the largest city and the capitol of Crete.

Heraklion Port
is located in the city centre next to the Venetian harbour (only 2km Heraklion Airport) and along the Crete National Road 90. The port service include local bus service, taxi stand, car hire desk, terminal, ferry ticket office.
Heraklion has the third busiest port in Greece.
Sailing time from Athens between 7-13 hours depending on ferry type. Santorini is the nearest Island with a port connection to Heraklion port and the sailing time between 2-3 hours.
Chania port
The ferry port is located in the bay of Souda a distance of less than 8km from Chania. Local bus Ktel no 13. Daily connection with Pireus via ferry lines. Chania is also a NATO naval base here in Souda bay,
Sitia port
The port of Sitia is located on the outskirt of the town approximately 4km from Sitia centre at the north-eastern end of the island of Crete. Local bus Ktel available. Ferry connection with Athens/Piraeus and some Cyclades and Dodecanese Islands.

Heraklion Airport (HER)
located 5km east of the city center. Daily flights from Athens. From March/April until end of October several European charter flights and low fare airline fly to Heraklion (Iraklia) Airport, named after the famous novelist Nikos Kazantzakis (Zorba the Greek1946)

Taxi from Heraklion airport to the city centre will only take 10-15 minutes depending on the traffic. Taxis in Crete are charged at a flat rate, and the journey from Heraklion airport to the city centre will cost around 25 - 30 Euros

Chania Airport (CHQ)
located in Akrotiri, just under 14km east of Chania town. Daily flights from Athens. From March/April until end of October several European charter flights and low fare airlines fly to Chania airport named after Ioannis Daskalogiannis a Sfakian hero.

The airport officially opened in early June 1984. Since 2003 a newly extended runway and other improvements took place. The latest construction and improvement include a new terminal building (2015/2016). Domestic flights with Aegean Airlines / Olympic Air and Sky Express.
