Bar Anita San Carlos Ibiza

Ca n' Anneta (Bar Anita)

Ca n' Anneta is actually called Can Pep Benet and opened in 1876 as a grocery store and a bar. Originally founded by Josep Noguera Rosselló and ever since has passed on from generation to generation.

located in San Carlos, Ibiza. Bar Anita's shot to popularity during the 60s, with the arrival of hippies, who settled mainly in the Sant Carlos area.

The hippies took Bar Anita as their main meeting place as it was not only a social meeting point, a bar with food/tapas it also (as today) functioned as a post office and it had the only telephone in the village.

San Carlos became famous as a hippie village

in the 60s and 70s. Many of them settled in the beautiful surroundings of this northern Ibiza village. They usually lived in old farmhouses, often without electricity or even running water! The hippies are still in San Carlos, for them, being a ‘hippie' is a lifestyle.

The famous delicious Herbal Liqueur

Herbes de Ca n ‘ Anneta

Ibicencos and travellers drive to Sant Carles to eat lovely tapas, and to sip a glass of their famous delicious herbal liqueur.

The family has been producing the herbal liqueur for a century following the traditional recipe. I always go there whenever I visit Ibiza, brings back good old memories.

Las Dalias Hippie Market
