La Candelaria a taste of Benagalbon

Benagalbon

lies in the hills between the coastal towns of Chilches and Rincon Victoria in the province of Malaga.

Probably the reason why it is little known, and consequently little visited, is the lack of directions to the pueblo. Present population of around 1000 inhabitants.

Restaurante La Candelaria a taste of Benagalbon December 2019

Restaurante La Candelaria

A good old friend took me for my first visit to La Candelaria as late as December 2019.

Seated outside on the terrace in the sunshine, two plates to share one with cut Salmon pieces mixed in a potato salad and Pulpo salad mixed with tomato and cucumber, a glass of wine, bread and aioli.

This was good,  I’ll be back!

It took me 8 monts before I returned.

Returned in August 2020 with some good old friends, who likes good food and occasionally a glas of vino, (or two).

Seated on the outside terrace, overlooking Plaza de Las Flores, in the sunshine, again. Large indoor restaurant area.

On offer during lunch time Menu del dia ( weekdays) as well as a normal menu, lots to choose.

See comments from my dear friends below.

Very popular during lunchtime. You should reserve.

Restaurante La Candelaria comments

The restaurant itself is situated in an ideal position overlooking a pretty enclosed plaza.

This is not a place to visit if you are in a hurry, give yourself plenty of time to enjoy your choice of food from the menu, the choice is extensive and the service is by no means rapid.

Lovely day, good food and considering the restaurant’s popularity the wine was not overly expensive.”

Narrow twisting streets and many quality bars and restaurants, one of which is la Candelaria.

The bar has inside dining and also outside on a terrace which is part of the pavement.  Very campo!

One cannot get a more traditional Spanish bar than this.  The menu is excellent and the food is wonderfully prepared, cooked and presented along with a good wine list.

I thoroughly enjoyed a great lunch with my friends and recommend this place to all.

Eventually we arrive at the Restaurant Candelaria overlooking the square with its Moorish fountain and surrounded by flowers  hanging from the balconies of the whitewashed houses.

The food the wine and the company matched the warmth of the village.

What an enjoyable day!!”
